Leadership Development Program

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

What is LDP?

CCC’s Leadership Development Program (LDP) engages Jewish teens in grades 8–12 in meaningful and interactive community service, supporting thousands of children and families each year. We teach critical leadership skills and empower hundreds of teens to become engaged community leaders and volunteers. CCC is committed to being an inclusive organization that represents diverse Jewish teens across Atlanta.

What do teens learn in LDP?

Our LDP curriculum is designed to help Jewish teens discover their own answers and ideas about a series of essential questions that lead to a true understanding of leadership. As teens proceed through an up to four-year-long experiential curriculum, these questions build upon each other to instill a thoughtful and layered understanding of their own identity as future community leaders and Jewish young adults.

Philanthropy Through a Jewish Lens

Teens learn how and why philanthropists support the community and nonprofits. They learn to make the distinction between philanthropy, advocacy, and Tikkun Olam, or repairing the world. Teens reflect on what values are important to them as they begin to grow into the philanthropists they want to be.

Social Justice Issues

Teens learn about diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice issues affecting our community and the children and families we serve. They also begin to think critically about their own privilege and learn about the concept of intersectionality as it relates to being Jewish.

Empathetic Volunteering

Teens develop and deepen a mindful approach to service and learn about the concept of empathy as it relates to Judaism and our larger community. Additionally, CCC offers a special training for teens to learn how to support children with special needs at our programs.

Fundraising Strategies

Teens learn about nonprofit development work and practice various fundraising skills including, using personal anecdotes, improving their public speaking, cultivating a prospect list, and developing the “art of the pitch” through LDP’s annual fall fundraiser.

Jewish Identity Development

Teens deepen their understanding of leadership within a Jewish context and reflect on the type of leader they want to be in the community. Teens have the opportunity to develop leadership skills through peer-to-peer interactions and reflect on how their Jewish identity influences their decisions as future leaders.

Program Planning

Teens learn how nonprofits build relationships in the community and work with partners to provide resources to those most in need. They learn about the components of program planning and the importance of adhering to an organization’s mission, so that the needs of both beneficiaries and stakeholders remain at the forefront.
